Finnish designer Tapio Wirkkala remains the most popular and most productive designer in Finland. He designed over 630 articles for Kultakeskus and had a close working relationship with the company until his death in 1985. Kultakeskus continues to produce Wirkkala designs in cooperation with his heirs, Sami and Maaria Wirkkala. Kultakeskus has many original drawings of the products designed by Tapio Wirkkala, which still comprise a remarkable share of todays factory exhibition.
Wirkkala's designs of silver banquet cutlery and glassware grace the tables of Finland's Mäntyniemi Presidential Residence, alongside designs by Timo Sarpaneva.
